Hullo there!
It's time to start a thread about weird craft projects that the Forest Bears get up to.
A few years ago we made a lot of progress on a hook-rug that certainly must be documented on the forums somewhere but I couldn't find it.
Instead of finishing that, this winter Lee got the idea to start a new project. She saw a very effective targeted ad on nibstagram for a thing called "tablet weaving" and ordered some yarn over Sneechmas... but it took a month for the yarn to arrive from Latvia! She also saw a cool portable travel-loom and ordered that from the UK, which also took a month to arrive.
The yarn kit arrived last week! Here is me happy about how cool it looks:
Then last weekend the loom arrived!
Then Lee watched a lot of youtube videos to figure out how to thread the loom.
Duddles and Sneeches came to help but got too sleepy and napped on the couch. It was a 4 hour project and we bears weren't sure Lee knew what she was doing, snarf.
Eventually she got the hang of it and started to look pretty cool:
And finally it all came together!
Lee started learning how to weave. You can see she made a lot of mistakes for a while before she got the hang of how this all works:
Anysneech, now the bears have a new nighttime hobby for when we read too much Elantris and have to fill our time in other ways!
We will keep you posted on how this strange project comes along!
(Not sure what usefulness a narrow band will serve, but Duddles seems pleased by it all.)
